We are happy to offer you these rare seeds native to Africa! A succulent with a beautiful growth pattern and powerful SSRI properties similar to St. Johns wort! Used by the hottentot tribe in Africa and commonly referred to as Kanna. Traditionally the perforation is chewed to elevate the mood and relieve the symptoms of depression. For more information on the uses and perforations used by the indigenous peoples of Africa please see our Sceletium tortuosum page in Dried plants or extracts section.
These seeds germinate well in peat pellets kept moist; however we have found the best soil composition is that used with the iboga seeds supplemented in part with a small quantity of peat moss.(See under iboga for soil preparation) Keep moist and warm under a humidity dome. After approximately 5-10 days they will germinate and will continue sprouting for 30 or more days. During this time keep a good eye on them and once the sprouts are a 3-5 days old remove from the humidity dome into a drier environment. We have had great success with this species! Once your plants are well established cuttings are easy to propagate so future generations may be created.
We offer two species of this genus. S. Tortuosum and S. emarcidum. The one which is confirmed to be active is tortuosum. We have not yet confirmed the pharmacology of the other species as of yet.
