A stunning plant in blossom, this is a member of the Ipomoea family. Used as a sacrament by the Aztec and Mazatec tribes in the Sierra Mazatec mountains in Mexico. A substitute for the sacrament of choice; Teonanacatl mushrooms providing a visionary journey if ingested. Seeds collected near Hautla de Jimenez, Oaxaca, Mexico, by the same poeple who have used them for centuries, called "semillas de la virgen"
Germination:
Scarify the seed coat and soak for 24-48 hours prior to planting in a moist rich potting mixture. This plant can tolerate a cool environment although it should be brought inside to overwinter in the Northern Hemisphere.
