(3-Hydroxy-5-aminomethylisoxazole) Muscimol (Amanita muscaria/pantherina Isolate)
Muscimol, also known as agarin or pantherine, is the primary psychoactive present in mushrooms of the Amanita genus, the most prominent of which are the Amanita muscaria and Amanita pantherina species. Our muscimol, derived from Amanita pantherina mushrooms, has been a long time coming - much effort and cost has gone (and will continue to go) into its extraction and we are proud of the result. This extract is refined to absolute purity and it retains no negative alkaloids; only the alkaloids of interest are present. Extracts of this kind have been known to sell for anywhere between $120-$600 per 10mg.
The extract muscimol is obtained by the drying or decarboxylation of ibotenic acid, a chemical compound occurring naturally in the mushroom; it is the psychoactive portion of the Amanita mushroom. When ingested, ibotenic acid is broken down by the body and converted into muscimol. Our extract contains 90%+ muscimol and 5-10% ibotenic acid, and has serious potential for research and clinical use. Muscimol is a GABA-enhancing compound, not a tryptamine (unlike, for instance, psilocybin). GABA is one of the brain’s principal neurotransmitters, and keeps the brain functioning at its peak.
Accordingly, muscimol has very different effects when compared to psilocybin or in fact any other psychedelic. In clinical research, muscimol has found to be active in the cerebral cortex, the hippocampus, and the cerebellum. Due in part to these differences in brain activity, the effects of muscimol are reported to be very unique. For instance, lucid dream-like hallucinations and even synaesthesia have been reported. We hope that by making available an extract of this quality that serious research into such a powerful and promising substance will be encouraged.
Please note optimal evaluation of this material has been noted in clinical applications as a gabba receptor agonist with exceptional properties via vaporization at correct temperatures not to waste the materials with careless trials.
